Today, Riggs For Our Courts released the campaign’s first ad, “Families Like Mine,” which highlights North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs’ personal commitment to reproductive freedom.

The ad features Justice Riggs speaking about her experience serving as the youngest woman ever on court and the only appellate judge currently serving during her childbearing years. She has been outspoken about her desire to start a family and her commitment to ensuring every North Carolinian can do so in safety and without fear.

“The contrast between Justice Riggs and her opponent, Judge Jefferson Griffin, should tell North Carolinian women everything they need to know about who will protect their rights on our state’s highest court,” said Embry Owen, campaign manager for Justice Riggs.

“Justice Riggs has been outspoken about guarding reproductive freedoms. By contrast, Judge Griffin signed onto a judicial opinion just last year, since withdrawn, that stated ‘life begins at conception.’ Similarly flawed legal logic was used by the Alabama Supreme Court, resulting in the loss of women’s access to IVF treatment, and it was used by the Texas Supreme Court to greenlight the criminalization of miscarriage care,” Owen said.

“Keeping Justice Riggs on our state Supreme Court will help ensure North Carolinians have the reproductive freedoms we need and deserve,” Owen said.
